The Thrill Of Free Flying In Europe

The allure of flying has prompted man to make remarkable discoveries and developments in the fields of transportation, entertainment, and even sports.  For who would not want to soar high above to experience a bird's eye view of spectacular sceneries?

If you want to test your gut, engage in a free flight sports.  Free flight has many forms but the most common of which are paragliding and hang gliding.

In Europe, free flight exploits are regular but nonetheless marvelous ways to tour and enjoy its captivating landscapes and seascapes, thanks to pleasant climate and fresh air.  The proliferation of many gliding events, flying centers and gliding clubs demonstrate the fact that paragliding and hang gliding are serious sports thrills in this continent.

Gliding in the Air

Paragliding and hang gliding are cousins.  A paraglider is shaped like a wing but with a billowy appearance while a hang glider takes a more rigid form of a V-shaped wing.

A paraglider is made from fabric and strings. Inflated by air through its holes, the fabric of the paraglider forms a hollow wing, thus creating a billowy appearance.  Suspended from this wing are several fine strings, which connect to a harness that serves as your seating.  Speed and direction are manipulated by pulling on some of the strings, which in turn warp the back of the wing.  Because of its construction and materials, a paraglider is literally an aircraft in a rucksack.

A hang glider, on the other hand, is made from lightweight metal frames but also covered with a fabric.  Moving the metal bar in front of you controls the speed and direction of your flight.

Both are lightweight gliders, which can reach thousand of feet above land, cover several hundreds of miles, and stay up in the air for hours.  Both can be launched by yourself too, as long as you get ample training and muster enough flying spirit in you.

However, being lighter, paragliding is the more popular sport.  Weight matters especially when you have to travel up a hill from where to launch.  It is also slower and therefore easier to learn than hang gliding. But if you want more speed, hang gliding is your thing.  Hang gliding also requires greater skill especially in landings.

Takeoff Points
Hang gliding is a fresh way to tour Brazil's Rio de Janeiro.  Fly at about 1700 feet above well-known beaches and mountains.  No prior experience needed since you will be accompanied by a certified master.  Most tours last about two hours, with about 15 to 20 minutes in the air.

Slovenia has also many launch sites, having hosted several world championships in gliding and paragliding.  So do United Kingdom, France where paragliding is called parapenting), Ireland, Germany, Turkey, and many other nations of the region.  The Derbyshire Peak District in the UK and the Chamonix Valley in France are only two of the many popular spots dedicated for gliding and similar sports.

Whichever of these sites you plan on taking that first launch, what is basic should be mastered, especially when you're planning to go solo flying.  Master how to control wind, for it will carry you throughout the flight.

These free flight activities roll transportation, entertainment, and sports into one breath-taking exploit of the unexplored beauty of nature, letting you take yourself to specific spots your heart desires.

Paragliding and Learning to Fly

Flying is a wonderful feeling. Most people experience flying at sometime in their life. This experience usually take place in a large commercial jet aircraft. People use this type of transportation to get from one location to another in the quickest form possible. There are however other forms of flying which may offer people a higher level of satisfaction.

Paragliding: This is an outdoor sport where people have the opportunity to fly while keepeing close to nature. You get to feel the wind blowing through your hair while soring through the air supported only by a harness, some lines and a parachute know as a paraglider. Paraglidng offers more control than hang gliding does. This sport is an inexpensive way to fly. It does require some training but can be learned in a relatively short period of time.

Hang Gliding: This sport also entails flying high above the ground while maintaining a tight connection to the element. This sport uses a hang glider as a mode of flying. The hang glider is a great way to fly with out a motor. This sport has been gaining popularity over the past 20 years. Hang Gliding was invented before paragliding.

Power Paragliding: Power paragliding is similar t paraglidng but does not require wind to create lift. Instead the power paraglider creates it's velocity and lift with a small gas powered motor which powers a propeller. The motor and propeller are either strapped to the pilots back or attached to a small go cart type vehicle called a trike or a quad. When using a trik or a quad the motor and propeller are attached to the rear frame of the vehicle. There is then a parachute know as a paraglider attached with long lines the the vehicle which allows the quad or trike to glide through the air while the motor provides thrust. The other option pilots use when paragliding is the solo method. This is when a pilot attaches the motor and propeller to their back using a back pack type device. They then sit in a harness which attaches to the lines which lead the the paraglider.

These forms of flying require some training and effort. To become a pilot in any of these sports it is important to understand how the sport works as well as how the air and weather work together. Once someone becomes a pilot and begins flying in these extreme sports they will immediately understand why these forms of flying are becoming more popular in the United States and all over the world.

What kind of exercise helps improve breakdancing skills.?

Im a starter, and im currently practicing the Babyfreeze, hand glide and hand stand. But my wrist hurts really bad which slow me down from practicing.
Is there any kind of exercise such as weight lifting position or push ups etc.
That would help improve. Especially for the hand stand.

One more question. I dont know that one move call. The one where you go hand stand position and start jumping/bouncing with 1 hand.

Thanks !

How Can You Start Flying?

It has never been easier to fly than today. And if you only dream flying and don't do it, that could be just because you don't know how to start.

Of course flying is not the cheapest hobby you may have, but it's not that expensive that many people think. Today there are options for everyone to fly, no matter of their wallet size, location or age.

Let's explore the opportunities which allow the ordinary person to start flying without too much efforts or too high expenses.

Paragliders

One of the most popular flying activity and sport today is paragliding. Paragliding is relatively cheap and fairly safe. The average fatality rate per thousands USHGA members per year for the last 15 years is only 0.88.

There is no license required for flying a paraglider, but if you have no experience at all, it's recommended to attend some education in any of the thousands paragliding clubs all over the world.

A new paraglider costs about GBP 2,000 while a second hand can be found for much less. Professional fly training typically costs between GBP 500 and GBP 1,000.

There are motor paragliders who are probably the simplest powered flying machine. The motor paragliders (paramotors) let you start flying from the ground without the need of hills or winches.

Hang Gliders

Hand gliding is much elder sport. The first hang gliders have been invented at the end of 19th century. The main difference between the hang gliders and the paragliders is that the former have hard fixed wing. Modern hang gliders give you the ability to soar for hours and fly over large distances.

The hang gliders are more appropriate for performing aerobatics than the paragliders. The hang gliders are also capable of flying at much higher speed.

Hang gliding is considered a bit more advanced activity, but the cost of equipment and training is almost the same or slightly higher than paragliding's.

Skydiving

Skydiving is not exactly flying, but is also a very popular sport. It's also known as parachuting.

For a typical skydiving jump you need an aircraft - usually an airplane, helicopter or even a balloon - which to raise you to about 4,000 meters attitude.

The specific and exciting moment in skydiving which is driving so many people to it is the free fall for 1,000 - 2,000 meters before opening the parachute.

Skydiving is rather safe activity and most incidents are due to lack of experience when performing advanced techniques.

Because you need an aircraft to raise you up, the price of skydiving raises with each jump you make. The equipment is not very expensive and can be hired, but the cost of the jumps is raising all the time because of the growing fuel prices.

Ultralight Gliders

If you are looking for more advanced fly you may want to try ultralight gliding. The ultralight gliders are unpowever airplanes which can soar for hours and have basic control systems. Unlike the hang gliders, the pilot's body here is seated and there could be even a cockpit, although that's not always the case.

The main disadvantage of the ultralight gliders is that you need a powered airplane or a tower-winch system to help you start flying.

The costs of the gliders and their support is much higher - starts from about USD 10,000 and sky is the limit for the top prices.

Training can be obtained at the gliding clubs all over the world and it's also more expensive.

Ultralight Aircrafts

Finally, if you are really keen on being a pilot, don't want to depend on hills, mountains, winches or other aircrafts, you may want to think about flying your own ultralight aircraft.

The ultralight aircrafts are fully functional powered airplanes, helicopters or autogyros. They don't need help to start flying and can be used not only as a tool for leisure and sport, but also for practical purposes.

Unfortunately you need a license to fly an ultralight aircraft. Depending on where you live, you may need an LSA license or license for ultralight/microlight pilot. The training costs several thousands GBP.

Flying ultralight aircraft can be quite expensive, but there are many options to cut down the costs and complexity and enjoy this wonderful activity.

There is a lot more to learn about the ultralight airplanes and helicopters. If you are willing to get into this, visit my site for introduction to ultralight aviation - http://ultralight-airplanes.info
